Fire ant and ant control in Sachse, TX
Two different jobs share this page. Fire ants are a yard problem that every Sachse lawn has to manage; small ants trailing through the kitchen are a house problem that starts at the foundation. Both are handled best by treating where the colony lives, not where the ants are seen.
Texas pest control businesses are licensed by the TDA. The call carries no obligation.
Fire ants in the yard
Red imported fire ants are established across North Texas; Dallas and Collin counties are both on the Texas Department of Agriculture's list of fire ant quarantined counties. Mounds pop up after rain because water collapses their tunnels and the ants pile the new soil on the surface.
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension recommends a two-step method: broadcast a bait across the whole yard, ideally in spring and fall, then treat individual mounds that are a problem near play areas, walks or the AC unit. Mound-by-mound treatment alone keeps you chasing new mounds.
Ants in the house
Inside, the usual pattern on a slab home is a trail along the backsplash, the sink, a window or the dishwasher. The nest is outdoors along the foundation or inside a wall, and the ants follow the expansion joint, the bottom row of brick, door thresholds and utility openings.
Spraying the trail kills the visible workers and can split the colony. The better approach is identifying the species, then using baits it will take and treating the entry points outside.
What the visit involves
A technician walks the lot and the foundation, identifies the ant, and lays out a plan: yard bait and mound treatment for fire ants, baits and perimeter work for house ants. Expect advice on mulch depth against the brick and sprinkler timing, and a follow-up schedule.
Who to call
Call and say which it is — mounds in the yard, ants in the house, or both — and whether anyone has been stung.
Describe the problem in a sentence or two. Call to check availability near you.

Can the whole neighborhood's fire ants be stopped at my fence?
No yard is sealed off. Treatment keeps your lot under control; new colonies can still move in from neighboring lots and open ground, which is why programs are repeated.
How long do fire ant baits take?
Baits are slower than contact products because workers carry them back to the queen. Expect days to a few weeks depending on the product and the weather.
Is it safe for kids and pets to use the yard?
The provider explains how long to keep people and pets off the treated area for the products used. Ask before the visit.
